Peer Gynt is a play written in 1867 by Henrik Ibsen and set to music nine years later by Edvard Grieg.

One might think that Edvard Grieg’s Opus 23 is relatively unknown. And yet, Morning Mood and In the Hall of the Mountain King are among the most famous pieces in the classical repertoire. That is precisely what makes them so fascinating. Inseparable from Ibsen’s story, they reveal their full meaning when brought together.

​

This production seeks to restore the work’s full narrative and musical power by placing it within a sensitive and immersive world. Lighting plays an essential role: subtle and ever-evolving, it follows the emotions of the story and becomes an integral part of the audience’s journey. The ambition is to transport the audience to Norway, into a world where imagination, fantasy and the quest for self intertwine.

This project is intended both for classical music enthusiasts and for a broader audience. It aims to make the work accessible to those who may not, at first, be familiar with it.
